Picture of Solar Panels in a field

There is increasing interest in developing Solar Farms on land that is suitable, which will require discussion with Parish and Town councils. Their communities could benefit from reducing energy costs for local householders and businesses. Hence, not only will this help reduce our dependence on oil and gas, but it could also bring financial and other benefits to local communities (e.g. the creation of pathways, additional biodiversity areas and so on).

Shropshire Council has produced a guidance document for Local Councils (Parish and Town councils) to help cover the main areas that they should consider if they are approached or get involved in such a development.
